Prague: The City of Crowns

My first im20150331_164319pression of Prague (Praga) was, wow- Eastern Europe is more beautiful and friendly than I could have ever imagined. I am so happy that Andres planned to go here. During our time we really just wandered aimlessly, took naps, and ate. We ate a lot. The food was so fresh and satisfying. We did a free walking tour which gave us a g20150331_181102ood idea of the history of the city and the Czech Republic in general—which by the way is very complicated. The weather was not ideal, but the locals assured us that even they had not seen such peculiar weather in a long time. At one point when we were walking from the apartment we rented to a hostel (approximately 1.6 km) we faced sun, rain, sleet, and snow all combined with hurricane force winds (it seemed). We had some good laughs out of hysteria.

But of course the BEST part of Prague was the currency exchange rate. (: 1 USD=26 CZK We were living like kings and queens. The money is so pretty in Europe. I don’t know how I am going to feel coming back to boring green USD.

We saw the Prague Castle, Old Town Square (there was a traditional Easter market going here), The Astronomical Clock, Little Town (where our apartment was at the base of the castle), The John Lennon Wall, Love Lock Bridge, Charles Bridge (all sandstone so it’s mostly black from the effects of time).

20150331_165451_Richtone(HDR)Prague is known for its Bohemian glass, hand painted Easter eggs (of course I bought some), and their beer- Pillsner.

I would highly recommend a trip to the Czech Republic in general just because you get to see history, culture, and beauty for a fraction of the price of other western European countries.
